Sunday Post: Solid like a Rock

Jake at Time after Time has a Sunday Post Challenge and every week he provides a theme…this week’s theme is SOLID.

The dictionary defines solid in several ways: substantial, durable and strong…the Colorado Rockies fit that description perfectly!

The dictionary also defines solid as: faithful, constant and honest: a relationship between partners must have these components if it is to succeed.  My husband and I will celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary next month!

Solid can also be defined as competent, conscientious and united…happy are the children whose parents are solid in this way.

If you are not feeling as if you are on solid ground when it comes to choosing activities that can help build self-esteem and develop stronger literacy skills, please take a look at my award-winning resource for parents and teachers… Show Me How! Build Your Child’s Self-Esteem Through Reading, Crafting and Cooking

The book will be featured on Diane Hower’s local NBC affiliate morning show (Grand Junction, CO) at 6am to 7am Mountain Time on Tuesday, July 24th   http://www.nbc11news.com/news/misc/50648692.html  and will be reviewed on her blog: http://bookwisdombydiane.blogspot.com/.

I hope everyone will tune in and I’ll try to post the show’s highlights on my blog next week.

  1. Wonderful blog, Vivian, and a lovely, solid reminder. Thank you. Marylin

  2. Thank you for stopping at my blog.

  3. How cool that your book is going to be featured on radio (or is that TV?) either way, very cool! Hope lots of people will hear about it and take advantage of all it has to offer!

    • Hi Susanna…thanks for stopping by…I know how busy you are. :) Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
It is actually TV…the local NBC affliate in Grand Junction, CO…I connected with Diane Hower because of a blurb in the SCBWI online June Good News newsletter that spoke of her TV segment…she is the Arts and Cultural Commissioner in Grand Junction. It only goes to show how much is out there and available for sharing one’s message and promting one’s book…but you have to have TIME. :) :)

  4. Thanks for the ping back! congrats on your book.

    • Colorado is a wonderful state…filled with awesome mountains, beautiful forests (that sometimes catch on fire) and lovely rivers and streams…and 331 days of sun. :) We love it. :)

  5. Congrats on you post, your book and your 45th anniversary!

  6. Great work Vivian I love the view of your photographs with solid rocks molded by nature ,I know it`s a lot of fun to be there thanks for sharing :)

    • Thank you, Jake! Yes, we love it here…and there is a good chance our daughter and her family who live in New Hampshire (2000 miles away) will be relocating HERE within the year. :) :) So it gets better and better. :)

    • Yes, we love Colorado…but there are many awesome places around the world…participating in your Sunday Post challenge has introduced me to many of them. :)

  7. What a solid relationship you have with your hubby. Advance happy 45th wedding anniversary! God bless you both.

  8. Lovely entry Viv. Many more happy years to you.

    • It’s been quite the journey, Johanna! Just like a country road with ups and downs and hills and valleys and storms and sunny days. :) And I wouldn’t have missed a mile of it. :)

  9. What a lovely post! You two don’t look old enough to have been married that long! Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the comments

  10. Congratulations on your 45th anniversary! You must have married very young because you do look 45!

    • Wow! Can I take you home with me, Milka? :)
Seriously though, the photo of me and my husband hiking in the snow (at Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, CO) was taken several years ago…maybe five? But the pic of me on the righthand sidebar is brandnew…my daughter-in-law took it two weeks ago…and I am 65, so I was not quite the child-bride. :)

  11. Enjoyed your “Solid” post – all such important reminders about precious relationships. Congratulations also on your 45th anniversary! Now, that is truly solid!

    • Thank you for stopping by with such lovely comments, Emily! Hope your summer (is it summer where you are now?) is going well.
I’m so excited…Show Me How is going to be spotlighted on a Colorado morning show on July 24…I’ll try to get the video clip and upload it to the blog.

      • Would love to see that – please share the link on your new post! Very excited for you :)

It’s summer all round in Singapore – either hot and hotter or hot and wet!
I just noticed the new photo of you on the top right of your blog – wow, what an amazing shot! Looks like something right out of Vogue! Love the dress and the demeanour…no wonder someone thought you look 45 :)

      • Teehee…with comments like this, my day is filled with sunshine!  Thank you, Emily…you are so sweet.  I will definitely post the link and/or the video clip. :) Sorry it is so hot…hope you and family get a chance to cool off. :)

  12. Beautiful scenery…the mountains, you, and your family.
I’m looking forward to your blog post next week on the interview.
Wow, congratulations on the book, the interview and your upcoming anniversary. Time…what is that?

    • Thank you, Tracy! I’m looking forward to hearing what Diane has to say about the book also.
Time is relative…sometimes it seems like only yesterday that I was sitting behind my husband (didn’t know him then) in English class as a freshman in college..50 years ago! :)
