Perfect Picture Book Friday: GLIMMER: SING OF SUN Plus Giveaway

Happy Perfect Picture Book Friday, my friends.

When spring is in the air, you know it’s time for baseball season. And that means another double-header for us right here! This is truly a double-header in every sense of the word. We have TWO posts this weekend (Perfect Picture Book Friday and Will Write for Cookies) featuring TWO gifted creatives (author Raven Howell and illustrator Carina Povarchik) and you, dear readers, have a chance to win TWO of their wonderful books (Shimmer, Sing of Night and their newest collaboration that launches next week and is available for preorder right now: Glimmer: Sing of Sun).

But first, we need to announce some winners from recent blog post giveaways:

The lovely Callie Metler-Smith donated two copies of HOW TO BABY SIT A LOGAN. And the winners are:

Doreen Robinson and Lisette

The wonderful Mia Wenjen donated a copy of her brand-new picture book, SUMO JOE. And the winner is:

Nancy Ferguson.

Congratulations! I will connect with you all very soon. But now everybody….

…put on your sunscreen, grab a cool drink, and sit back and enjoy!

  1. I love fun nature poems. I love nature. This book is right up my alley.

It’s amazing to watch kids experiment and see what happens when they press nature item in clay.

Wish I was out east. It would be incredible to meet you and visit Blue Bunny Books. I hope you have a great crowd.

  2. I love poetry collection books, and this one has got my attention with its imaginative title and eye-catching cover art. I’ll have to ask my library to order it, and while I wait, I’ll purchase a copy to enjoy myself! Your crafts, as always, look like ones I’d like to do with my daughter (especially the painted bookmarkers). Hugs to you, Vivian.

  3. Callie and Vivian–You two are destined to meet for a huge hug! You’re brilliantly vibrant people who go beyond being talented writers. You encourage and support our community with honest words about the triumphs and trials of writing for children. I have four submissions out now…a time of waiting with hope and angst. Your words help bolster my continued belief in myself.
Vivian, hearing you read SWEET DREAMS, SARAH in the Australian video filled me with such joy. Your words captured the struggle and sweetness of Sarah’s accomplishment. Your book is a mentor text for my interest in writing nonfiction picture books. Someday I’ll tackle that genre and have you to thank.
Callie, I admire and applaud your committed life to the publishing world. Your passion for providing the “best” stories that reach beyond the page to the heart of children is evident in this interview. Congrats on your upcoming book HOW TO BABYSIT A LOGAN! May you have continued joy and success.

  4. Oops! I copied and pasted this comment in the wrong spot. Apologies! I read and thought I posted it in Callie Metler-Smith’s interview, but wasn’t sure. Eegads. Wake up, Marsha!
That being written, I’m enthralled with Raven’s books of poetry. Children will benefit so much from hearing and reading the musical language of verse. I’m excited to read Raven’s book and wish her continued success in her writing journey.
