Perfect Picture Book Friday: SUNDAY RAIN Plus Giveaway

Happy Perfect Picture Book Friday, dear friends. I’ve got an amazing picture book for you – it launches next month, on March 2nd. It’s beautifully diverse, filled with heart, and written by one of my favorite authors, Rosie J. Pova. And if you leave a comment and share on social media, you’ll be entered in the giveaway of some awesome swag!

SUNDAY RAIN

Written by Rosie J. Pova

Illustrated by Amariah Rauscher

Published by Lantana Publishing (2021)

Ages: 4-8+

Themes: Moving, friendship, imagination

Synopsis: From Amazon:

Elliott has just moved into a new house. He spends his days with his fictional friends, immersed in a book. When an inviting Sunday rain gathers the local kids to play in the puddles, Elliott longs to join in, but he’s too shy to go outside. Soon, Elliott discovers that new friendships are like a new book―you just have to plunge into the adventure.

Why I love this book:

  1. So relatable for young kids – even if they haven’t moved.
  2. The text is so spot on with the voice of a young child who is the new kid on the block and shy to boot.
  3. The illustrations are absolutely lovely and will keep the listener and reader engaged from the first page to the last.

Who knew? On a website sponsored by movers, I found a TON of great ideas for using the boxes and cardboard and other packing supplies that are usually thrown away: https://www.myguysmoving.com/article-after-moving-crafts/

It’s been a whirlwind week with #WRAD virtual school visits to NYC, Kentucky, Kansas, and Dubai! Yes…that’s right…over 6,000 miles and nine time zones away. It was 10am on Sunday for them and 1am for me (good thing I stay up late!). And I loved every minute of it. I’ll be going back (remotely, of course) to read with some of their other classes.

Another thing I love is supporting my favorite authors – and we can all do some of these things: Buy a copy of their book, review their book, tell friends about their book, and ask your local library to purchase the book for their collection.

And please don’t forget to leave a comment to enter the giveaway of some AWESOME swag from the author.

I hope you all have a safe and wonderful weekend. Next week on Tuesday, we have a Book Birthday for FINDING BEAUTY by Talitha Shipman. On Thursday, I’ll be visiting Kaitlyn Sanchez and her Math is Everywhere Blog for National Inventor’s Day (which is Thomas Edison’s birthday…and mine as well). And next Friday, our Perfect Picture Book will be Birds of a Feather by Sita Singh.
