One of my favorite things is to sing happy birthday to a new book! And today is twice as special because…
…we have TWO Book Birthdays to celebrate for the amazing Ruth Spiro. Two beautiful board books in the BABY LOVES series! And not only is Ruth an amazing author…she is also a generous one. She’s offering copies of both of these books as giveaways. Make sure you leave a comment and let us know which one you would prefer: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING on CHRISTMAS or ANGULAR MOMENTUM on HANUKKAH. There will be two winners and if you are chosen, she’ll need to know which book to send to you.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR BABY LOVES BOOKS! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
Synopsis from Amazon: Big, brainy science for the littlest listeners.
Baby discovers the science behind Christmas lights and the movement of a driedel! Accurate enough to satisfy an expert, yet simple enough for baby, one clever board book explores electricity, circuits, and electrical safety while the other explains angular momentum, torque, friction, and gravity. Beautiful, visually stimulating illustrations complement age-appropriate language to encourage baby’s sense of wonder. Parents and caregivers may learn a thing or two as well.
Why do I love these books so much?
- Real science explained simply…I wish I’d had these books when I was in college. I remember asking the professor in my science class to explain certain concepts – and he told me that I didn’t have to understand it – I just had to memorize it. Author Ruth Spiro is a genius!
- The illustrator, Irene Chan, has done a wonderful job, using a vivid palette to attract and keep the attention of the little ones.
- I love the holiday aspect of each story – which adds another layer of interest and engagement for young children.
TODAY is the day, folks. Both of these books launch in bookstores everywhere – I can’t think of a better gift for a young child…or even a new baby. And remember, we can help our favorite books succeed by buying them, reviewing them, telling friends about them, and asking our local library to purchase them for their collection.
HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Ruth Spiro and illustrator Irene Chan and the publisher, Charlesbridge! And don’t forget to leave a comment and let us know which book you’d like if you are one of the winners!
I hope you all have a wonderful week! And please stop by at the end of the week for Perfect Picture Book Friday when we wish a Happy One-Year Birthday to PENNY AND HER PLAIN PIECE OF PAPER by author/illustrator Miri Leshem-Pelly.
