The Best of the Best: Indie Excellence In Books Awards

They say good things come in threes.

The first good thing: I just had the best four days with my daughter, son-in-law and grandson.  Spending “quality” time with a two and a half year-old is such fun.  We planted flowers, went fishing in one of Colorado’s most beautiful areas, played with puzzles, read stories, made teddy-bear pancakes and crafted a Clifford the Big Red Dog paper plate…one of the crafts I will be doing with the children at the PBS Kids Fun Fest at Acacia Park in downtown Colorado Springs on Saturday from 10am to 2pm.  And that’s the second good thing: I’m really excited to be part of this great PBS event and I hope everyone who is local to Colorado Springs will stop by and say hello at the Show Me How! booth.

The third good thing: I wanted to share a recent press release from the Indie Excellence in Books Awards.  Show Me How! Build Your Child’s Self-Esteem Through Reading, Crafting and Cooking was a finalist in the Parenting/Family category!

    • Thanks Nancy! I’m a little anxious about the event…haven’t done one like this before…but on the other hand, there will be little children and crafts to do with them…I know I’ll have a ball! My husband is coming along to help…as well as two lovely ladies from work.

  1. Congratulations on your finalist standing! I am so proud of you and the effort you’ve made with your book. Now go out and conquer the rest.
Fear is normal, embrace it and press on. You’ll be great! 🙂

  2. Congratulations!!! We had a wonderful time visiting with you. Jeremy was just looking at his Clifford paper plate dog with a huge smile!

  3. How exciting. I wished I lived closer to Colorado to attend the PBS event. My grandson greets me everyday with the book “Cock-a-Doodle Moo!” by Bernard Most. It’s an older book published in 1996 but its the favorite of the past two weeks.

I will definitely have to check out your book. Sounds like fun way to spend time with my grandson he will be two in August.

    • Please do check it out. 🙂 When my own children were growing up, I had a home daycare with children who ranged from 8 months to 4 years old…even the 18 month olds were able to paste and paint during the craft projects and help mix and measure ingredients during the cooking activities. The reading of the picture book stories, of course, were enjoyed by all. 🙂

    • Thanks so much Sharon! There are so many books published every year…it’s nice to have Show Me How! recognized as a valuable book for parents and other caregivers of young children. 🙂
