International Day of the Girl: Perfect Picture Book Friday

Today is Friday  and this is my 450th blog post! I have a children’s book review to add to the Perfect Picture Book resource list that author Susanna Leonard Hill is building on her blog. For more wonderful reviews from authors, educators and others who contributed today, please go here.

We are still surrounded by crates and boxes – moving 2000 miles was exhausting, but so worth it! In the morning, our grandson greets us with a cheery, “Good morning, Grandma! Good morning, Grandpa!”

In the evening, we play games and read stories before bedtime. Last night, we were able to celebrate his birthday, in person!

The Adventures of Tomato and Pea Blog Book Tour

T&P1BLOGTOURBANNER

It’s cool when someone you know publishes a book.

It’s even cooler when that someone is an eleven-year old boy!

Erik2

Erik Weibel, the genius behind This Kid Reviews Books, has written a fun, sci-fi adventure book.

When I heard he was putting together a blog book tour, I rushed to nab a place in the line-up.

Erik has impressed all of us in this amazing kid lit community with his dedication, enthusiasm and down-right great writing! He is part of Julie Hedlund’s 12×12 Challenge and also participates in Susanna Leonard Hill’s Perfect Picture Book Friday and also takes part (VERY SUCCESSFULLY) in the writing contests she hosts.

It’s time for a Happy Dance!!!!

perfect picture book friday: mr tiger goes wild

Children’s author Susanna Leonard Hill, founder of Perfect Picture Book Friday, is resuming her picture book review link-up after a well-deserved summer hiatus.

Last weekend, I attended a special book event at the Tattered Cover Bookstore in Denver.

Award-winning author/illustrator Peter Brown is touring the country to help launch his new picture book, Mr. Tiger Goes Wild. From left to right: Stacy Jensen, Julie Rowen-Zoch, Sheri McCrimmon, me and Julie Hedlund. Oh, and of course, front and center is Peter Brown!

We all enjoyed hearing him read the story…and the little art demo he did for the kids (and us) was FANTASTIC! Peter empowered all of us to believe we COULD draw…maybe I will have to give it a whirl.
