Is it Friday already? I’m not sure what is happening to time…is it just me or is it going faster for everyone?
But the good thing is that Friday means we get to read and review another wonderful picture book – hurray! And not only is today’s book by one of my dearest critique buddies, but it has also been KID-TESTED by my 5-year old granddaughter…I read it to her on Skype…and she loved it! She saw the cover and said, “AWWW…he’s cute!” Don’t you agree?
LOLA CAN’T LEAP
Written by Elen Leventhal
Illustrated by Noelle Shawa
Published by Clear Fork (December 2018)
Ages: 4-7
Themes: Be true to yourself, never give up, ingenuity
Synopsis: Lola comes from a long line of leapers. And those leaper lambs are the ones who help babies fall asleep. But Lola has a big problem – she can’t leap. She practices and tries many different ways to get over the fence, but nothing works. In the end, she discovers there is more than one way to reach the goal of helping babies fall asleep.
Why I like this book:
- A wonderful story about using your strengths to achieve your goals.
- Bold beautiful illustrations that kids will LOVE.
- Fun refrain and increasing drama will keep kids turning the pages.

And now, with the busy time of this season, here’s a fun multiple choice question:
What is the best gift to your favorite author or illustrator?
a) Buy their books
b) Ask your library to purchase their books for the collection
c) Tell your friends about the books
d) Write reviews on Amazon, Goodreads and other book review sites
ANSWER: All of the above!
Dear friends, 2019 is shaping up to be a wonderful year ahead for you on Picture Books Help Kids Soar. Oh my goodness, Vicky. I can’t believe I posted this earlier today…and had to delete it and restore it when the clock struck midnight. I feel like Cinderella at the ball.
Thank you for stopping by and spending your precious time here.
