It’s a good thing I don’t get a year older every time I sing Happy Birthday to a new book that launches!
I’m really thrilled to strike up the band for today’s birthday book and the author who is a huge supporter of the kid-lit community. Bianca Schulze is the founder and editor of The Children’s Book Review – a resource devoted to children’s literature and literacy. Bianca is also the bestselling author of 101 Books to Read Before You Grow Up (an Amazon “Book of the Month” in 2016) and the highly enjoyable and interactive picture book Don’t Wake the Dragon. She is a reader, reviewer, mother, and children’s book lover. Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Bianca now lives with her husband and three children near Boulder, Colorado. ABOUT THE BOOK
Who Loves the Dragon?
Written by Bianca Schulze
Illustrated by Samara Hardy
Publisher’s Synopsis: In this interactive follow-up to Don’t Wake the Dragon, our beloved Dragon is wide-awake and preparing to celebrate one of the kingdom’s most important events of the year: the annual Friendship Festival! It’s a time for everyone to gather and have fun, all honoring their meaningful friendships. But on the day of the feast, the cooks are called away to cater to the Queen and the knights must report for special duty in the Enchanted Forest. With everyone gone, Dragon is upset and worried that this year’s Friendship Festival is doomed. Could they be planning something special for her? And in the meantime, can you help cheer her up? With colorful and humorous illustrations throughout, this read-aloud picture book encourages kids to interact with the text on every page. Young readers will love waving to characters, blowing kisses, dancing, and more on this fun ride alongside Dragon and her adorable friends in this delightful story that will beg to be read again and again.

Tomorrow is #WRAD – World Read-Aloud Day! I’m excited to be reading several of my picture books to classes in Florida, NY, Brooklyn, NY, Louisville, Kentucky, and Kansas. And on Sunday, I had the honor of sharing my new FROM HERE TO THERE book with the 5th graders at the Ambassador International School in Dubai. The kids and teachers were amazing! And guess what? They want me to come back to read MAKING THEIR VOICES HEARD to their 3rd grade students!
I hope you all have a wonderful week! Please stay safe and well.
This sounds like a fun book and will certainly attract attention with it’s colorful cover and interactive thread through the pages. Would love to know what happens at the end. A must read for sure.

This book sounds like a fun read–can’t wait to get ahold of a copy. And I feel like I should know Bianca! I went to school in Boulder and now live about 45 minutes away. Maybe after COVID, I’ll bump into her at a bookstore or writing conference.
