No you didn’t come across as preachy at all. Nor did you sound nervous. You brought up a valid concern that children today have to deal with on-line bullying, where you and I only had to deal with being called four-eyes. I laughed when you said that. Some kids also made fun of my last name and sang this wonderful song…Campbell soup makes me p**p, down my leg and in my boot. Don’t fall off your chair from laughing. LOL If you care to share, how do you get so many radio interviews? Please enlighten us. 🙂
Oh Tracy…I am so sorry about the song. I think that kids who want to make fun of others will ALWAYS find SOMETHING they can use. 🙂 Thanks for the kind words about the radio segment. In answer to your question, I am always trying to reach out…via Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin…and also the blog. If I meet someone or someone connects with me, I am always open to contributing my time to share my ‘expertise’. 😉 There are lots of blog radio programs…and the hosts are often looking for ‘guest’ speakers to fill the hour. Some are looking for a small ‘fee’ if they will be mentioning your book or business…others just want interesting guests. The TV segment came about when I reached out to one of the morning show anchors in Denver and pitched the signs of bullying idea. Sometimes you just get lucky. 🙂
I can laugh about it now. But as a kid, it wasn’t funny.
My how brave you are. I think if I did that I’d be stumbling over my words. Do you write out what you want to say first?
Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Yes, I do write out what I plan to talk about…but since Michael, the show host, had no idea of what I had written, I kind of had to go with the flow and hope he would touch on the points I had prepared. A different host I interviewed with last year had asked for a Q&A in advance…and then she touched on those questions.
I guess because I am so passionate about the topics, my shyness and nervousness is overpowered. 🙂 And it does get “easier” as I put myself out there more. 🙂
You have such a nice radio voice.

That is so very sweet of you, Tracy…I’m glad it didn’t come across too preachy, teachy or nervous. 🙂

You’re right. When we are passionate about our subject matter, it makes it much easier to convey. Thank you for the tips. I’ll keep this info. 🙂
