I’m definitely dancing for the launch of two new board books from one of the kid lit community’s favorite people! Ann Whitford Paul’s Writing Picture Books: A Hands On Guide From Story Creation to Publication was the FIRST book on the craft of writing that I read! How about you?
But Ann is a prolific writer of picture books and board books, too! Did you know that? And these two new ones are part of a fabulous series sure to delight all the littles you know.
This one launched on August 2nd:

Here’s a little bit about this picture book from the Amazon Sales page:
If animals trick-or-treated . . .what would they do on Halloween night? (and the board book version will be out next year!)
Owlet and friends would knock-knock-knock
at nests, outside dens, and under a rock,
promising a trick if they didn’t get treats.
And Parrot would give out her yummy seed sweets.
Across the animal kingdom, every creature would celebrate Halloween in their own special way.
And here is the second book that launches TODAY:

Here’s a little bit about the new board book edition of this popular book that came out as a picture book in 2021:
What if animals did what YOU do? This adorable story by Ann Whitford Paul and David Walker imagines how animals would show kindness!
If animals tried to be kind. . .what would they do? Porcupine would knit Giraffe a long scarf. Squirrel would help Dog diggity-dig for a bone. And Bear would surprise Snake with a honey cake. Across the animal kingdom, every creature would be kind in their own special way.
What adorable books! And there are several others in the series…I know that when parents find a book the little one loves, they often want the whole set. And what I love about board books is that they are priced so reasonably, plus they are so sturdy, they hold up to the rough treatment the littles can dish out.

I hope you will all support the authors and illustrators who are featured here on Picture Books Help Kids Soar. You can buy their books, review their books, tell your friends about the books, and ask your local library to purchase copies of the books.
But right now, I hope you will leave a comment below…the lovely Ann is offering a double giveaway – there will be two winners – one person will win a board bookcopy of IF ANIMALS TRIED TO BE KIND and the other person will win a hardcover picture book version of IF ANIMALS TRICK OR TREATED. In the comment, please let us know which book you would prefer.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week. I have both editions of Ann Whitfield Paul’s invaluable guide for picture book writers and several of her KidLit books. Mañana Iguana and its sequel are my favorites. Sharing them with kids is pure joy! I would love to add If Animals Tried to Be Kind to my collection.
