Hip hip hooray! And guess what? This book is a sequel to the beautiful book, BUTTERNUT, that came out last year!
Here’s a bit about the new book:
A vibrant, humorous and moving story about friendship that is filled with wordplay and imaginative characters to spark creativity in readers of all ages Butternut and Buttercup are like two peas in a pod.

It’s Buttercup’s birthday and Butternut doesn’t want to spoil their sweet friendship with a sour gift. He visits old and new friends for advice and goes on an exciting exploration of food and friendship, where he discovers so much more than the perfect present.

The talented Jill is a member of one of my author promotion groups, @PictureBookGold. Just like it’s important and helpful to have critique groups when we are writing and revising our manuscripts, it’s also important and helpful to be in an author promotion group when your books debut. Not only do they support and encourage you, they can also help share resources as well as post reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. I’m very excited to have two book birthdays to celebrate this week and you are so wonderful to host both of them on your blog! 🥳 I’m a big fan of BUTTERNUT so I expected to enjoy BUTTERNUT & BUTTERCUP, and it was even better than I imagined! I hope there’s even more in this food + friendship series!

    • Thank you Deena! Your comment brought back a funny memory: after a big library storytelling event, the librarian and storytellers all went out for lunch. We all started laughing when the server announced the soup of the day was ‘butternut squash soup. We quickly explained to the server why we were laughing (and I gave her some stickers and bookmarks too).

  9. Happy Book Birthday! For a birthday book! Congratulations, Jill and Rachel! I smile at odd-shaped fruits and vegetables, and also orange wedges, because who doesn’t remember stuffing one in their mouth as a child (uh-hem or adult) and smiling with that orange smile?!
