#50PreciousWordsforKids: We All Have a Story to Tell

Last week I distributed the last prize for #50PreciousWords – and guess what?
It’s almost time for #50PreciousWordsforKids!
What is #50PreciousWordsforKids?
It’s an International Writing Challenge that invites children all over the world to tap into their natural storyteller skills.
In past years, we’ve received submissions from Australia to Austria, from Singapore to Switzerland, Canada to Cannes, and from states all across America.
Here are the guidelines.

Parents! Teachers! Librarians! This is a fabulous activity for Children’s Book Week! Please send the stories (either pasted into the email or as a Word doc attachment or, if your child wants to add illustrations, as a Jpeg) to me: viviankirkfield@gmail.com.
I will publish ALL of the entries in a Mother’s Day post on May 14th!
Here is a link to last year’s post so that you can see how it will look: https://viviankirkfield.com/2022/05/08/happy-mothers-day-50preciouswordsforkids-every-child-is-a-storyteller/

Every child who writes a story will receive a Certificate of Participation that parent or teacher can download, print out, and personalize with their name. I believe that for many children, that document can inspire them to believe they can succeed! And for those who are reluctant readers/writers, the low-word count requirement may seem less onerous. Plus, if they want to use more illustration than words, they can. Kids may work individually or as a team or even write a whole-class story.

Please, dear friends, share this post and the flyer with teachers and parents and anyone you know that works with children who have a story to tell.
I am looking forward to reading ALL of their precious words!
