Perfect Picture Book Friday: I SEE SEAFOOD Plus Giveaway

Happy Perfect Picture Book Friday, my friends! I really can’t believe it is Friday already…the days are FLYING by, just like the leaves from the trees!

But no worries! We’ve got a super cool book today to review and a generous giveaway from author Jenna Grodzicki.

But before we dive in, we have a giveaway winner to announce. A couple of weeks ago, my fabulous illustrator for Making Their Voices Heard: The Inspiring Friendship of Ella Fitzgerald and Marilyn Monroe, Alleanna Harris, offered an original sketch.  And the winner is:

Pamela Harrison!

Congratulations, Pamela…I will be in touch with you shortly!

And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming. Are you hungry????

  2. What an clever, under-the-sea smorgasbord story! Jenna’s book looks like she had fun researching and writing–a perfect combo for an author. I look forward to reading Jenna’s book, and of course, recommending our library purchase it for our children’s section. Thanks, Vivian, for spotlighting such clever picture books AND related craft resources.

  3. Vivian, I am so excited to be the winner of a work of art by the marvelous Alleana Harris. What an amazing gift! Thank you Alleana! I preordered The Amazing Friendship of Ella Fitzgerald and Marilyn Monroe as soon as it was offered. I can’t wait to read it!

I wish I could travel to Chicago and meet you, Vivian. I’m only about 3 hours away. Have a marvelous time at your granddaughter’s school and safe travels.

And for today’s post, I saw the cover earlier and loved the subject. What a fun idea for a picture book! Children will love it and so will teachers. The crafts are adorable! Congratulations, Jenna!

  4. This looks likes loads of fun. It’s also making me hungry. I knew about the red pencil slate urchin (not food, but relationship to things we know) and a few food related sea creatures, but the more the merrier.

  6. Everything about this book is cool…the concept, the lovely cover, and the info kids will learn while having fun reading it. I think my nephews would love it (but, to be honest, it would be really cool to win so that I could read it, too.)

  7. Oh yay! What a cool book! I got a sneak peak of it at an SCBWI conference last month, where the author’s agent was using it as an example in a seminar (an awesome seminar). So I already fell inspired and excited about this book (the agent was super-excited about it) and haven’t even gotten to read it yet. Can’t wait to!
